Lake Koman and the North East

Activities: individual/ guided sightseeing tour

Itinerary: Shkodra – Valbona – Gjakova - Prizreni – Shkodra

Programme outline: Drive to Koman and scenic boat trip across lake Koman to Fierze. Continue to the upper Valbona valley and have extensive lunch within the high mountain panorama of Valbona. In the evening you arrive at your hotel in Gjakova (Kosovo). The next day city walks in Gjakova and Prizren, the most attractive towns of Kosovo, then return to Albania, and drive with some more sightseeing stops and a lunch meal back to the Adriatic coast and to Shkodra.

Visit of the Pellumbas Cave (soft hiking)

Programme outline: Morning leave by taxi/ bus to the outskirts of Tirana, and walk to the Pellumbas cave entrance, together with a local guide. He will be pleased to show you the inside of the cave. Programme outline: For those with little time to spend this short “cultural highlights” tour from Tirana brings you to some of the top attractions of antiquity nearby Tirana. The second day puts focus to the early and important Greek-Roman settlements on the Albanian shores, among others perfoming the biggest amphitheatres of the Balkans in Durres. BERAT region

The UNESCO world heritage of Berat - historic city guide

Programme outline: The harmonic setting of the old town within the hilly landscape of Berat is unique. Above all dominates the more than 2.000 years continuously inhabited castle quarter where over 40 churches are documented (as well as 2 mosques). Visit the natural beauties of Skrapari region

Activities: sightseeing; optional swim

Programme outline: Drive along the scenic Osumi valley upwards to the rural district of Skrapar. You will pass by the little towns of Polican and Corovoda and arrive at the Canyon of Osumi. With a length of more than 20km and up to 450m deep it is not as big as the Grand Canyon, but the river shaped a beautiful landscape of different character. During a 1h stay at the river you are encouraged to walk around or make a swim.

Guided hiking in Tomori National Park and beyond

Programme outline: Mt. Tomori (2.400m) is also called the Olymp of Albania. It’s a world a bit out of time: not yet abandoned, but hardly connected to the rural centres in the valleys below. Together with a local guide and depending on your own hiking experience you have several options for hikes at Mt. Tomori. You can start from the Osumi valley below or from one of the mountain villages. We also offer a guided 3-days tour to the yearly Bektashi fest in August at the Southern top of Tomori.

EAST

The city of Korca in history and today

Activities: sightseeing and walks

Programme outline: The city of Korca (Greek: Koritsa) is the administrative center in the East of Albania, and a must to see. The city history started with the Ottoman foundation of the Mirahor mosque and the old bazaar, but the revival of Greek orthodoxy jumps into the eyes today. 400m above the city an overdimensioned cross governs the Korca plain. You are invited to enjoy a traditional lunch and finish the tour with a visit of the well-known Korca brewery.

Explore the Prespa-Ohrid-lakes region from Korca

A soft hiking & culture day in Voskopoja

Programme outline: The foundation of Voskopoja is dated at around the same time as Korca, but the once rich city of the Aromunian (Vlach) traders and nomad stock breeders turned back into a little village within a green and hilly surrounding. Saranda and the Archaeological park of Butrint

“The Cultural Heritage of Gjirokastra” city guide

Programme outline: From Saranda you easily can reach the city of Gjirokastra, the old town is UNESCO world heritage since 2005. The ottoman influence on the city’s unique architecture is well preserved and seems better prevented from decay now. Visit the castle, one of the biggest fortresses of the Balkans and walk through the historic quarters of the upper town, including a visit to one of the typical houses from the 18th/ 19th century.
